UMTV and Globe have joined forces for the first We Love Pop compilation – Summer Anthems. The release sees the Globe-founded magazine brand branching out beyond publishing with its print readership now at a very healthy 50,000 pop fans.
The first in a series of WLP releases pulls together 36 tracks of summer time hits across two CDs. The album, made up exclusively of Universal Music artists, includes pop staples by the likes of Sugababes, Take That, and Girls Aloud, contemporary classics by Katy Perry, Rizzle Kicks and Iggy Azalea and teen pop hits by 5 Seconds Of Summer, The Vamps, The Janoskians, Austin Mahone and Ariana Grande.
The release is aimed at an audience older than the demographic of the Pop Party releases and slightly younger than that of Now! The album also comes with two posters, perfect for every teenage fan’s bedroom wall.
The well-established WLP online channels are hard at work promoting the album and The Saturdays have recorded a short shout out for the release. The print version has also been hard at work getting the word to fans, giving readers the chance to vote for their favourite summer anthem.
We Love Pop was launched in 2011 by Globe and publishers Egmont to revitalise the teen pop magazine market. Over the past two years the publication has grown to a physical readership of nearly 50,000, with similar numbers of social likes and follows.
In 2013, the magazine became the first publication to go on sale in Primark stores up and down the UK. Fifty-seven stores stocked We Love Pop alongside exclusive WLP and artist merchandise which features scratch cards giving access to additional content.
