A worldwide deal between Universal Music Group and Hewlett Packard was negotiated at the end of 2012, strengthening the bond between technology and music in an increasingly digital world.
In the UK, HP wanted to emphasise their relationship with music fans and set out to create a platform to deliver music directly to their consumers.
Globe’s partnerships team liaised with all the labels here at Universal Music UK to create a bespoke streaming service for everyone that purchased a HP laptop.
The HP Connected service gave the customers free unlimited access to streams of Universal’s content and 10 downloads per month, as well as playlists, radio and video content curated by Universal Music.
The music experience was also expanded beyond the computer screen to exclusive showcases with Universal artists, the first of which was with Ellie Goulding in March 2013. Followed by Iggy Azalea in the summer of 2013, and finally Rizzle Kicks towards the end of the year.
HP’s customers were offered exclusive access to the one off-gigs as well as meet and greets with all the artists being available to specially-selected winners.
In 2014, the deal was renewed and a brand new Radio streaming service was launched, HP Connected Music.
2014 saw 3 more global artists performing exclusive intimate gigs, kicking off the year was John Newman, followed by Bastille and Professor Green.
HP customers were thrilled to get the chance to win tickets to see such global artists in such intimate venues across London.
